The Sacramento School of Engineering & Science launched a new student safety and support program, STOPit, to provide a method of confidential reporting to school administration of unsafe incidents, mental health counseling 24/7 and resource support. Help is at the students’ fingertips to obtain help in a confidential setting. This comprehensive safety program, STOPit, is downloadable to the students’ Chromebooks and cell phones for instant access.

The program promotes a healthy student environment by empowering students to confidentially report (1) bullying; (2) cyberbullying; (3) harassment; (4) violence, threats or weapons possession; (5) alcohol or drug related issues; and (6) discrimination.

In addition to the incident reporting, STOPit provides a means to attach videos and text messages with the confidentially submitted tip. Reporting is available to students 24/7. Incident Response Center monitors and reviews the student submissions. School Administrators then act on the report.

Since not all situations of need happen during the school day, there is also a Crisis Text Line available 24/7 to privately speak with a mental health counselor.

Resources for help with clothing, shelter, food, self-help support for homework and substance abuse are also available.

Because assistance is just a click away 24/7, students can reach out any time they need support. The STOPit program is a state-of-the-art student safety and support program to help students get through difficult times and feel empowered to contribute to a safe school environment without fear.
