Dress Code
We show respect for our appearance and our cohesion as a community through our uniform dress code. Students are expected to follow the school dress code to attend SSES. We intend to prepare our young adults to enter the professional workforce. Wearing appropriate attire for high-wage positions is important to our mission.
Allowed Clothing
Shirts: Shirts must be polo shirts, button-up shirts, or any sleeved (short or long) shirts that are solid and plain, in the following colors: Green, Gray, Black, or White. Shirts should have no holes, tears, or stains. Shirts must have no offensive, graphic, or foul language that is inappropriate for the academic setting. No tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, or midriff shirts will be allowed. Students are encouraged to wear school shirts and outerwear (for sale at the school).
Pants: Khaki, Black, Blue, White, or Gray pants/jeans are allowed (Sweatpants are not allowed). Pants must fit naturally and may not have tears, holes, or drag on the ground. Pants may not be worn below the top of the hips and need to fit correctly (no baggy style pants). Students may not wear shorts, dresses, or skirts for safety purposes.
Shoes: Closed-toe shoes must be worn to school for safety purposes.
Outerwear: Solid color Green, Gray, Black, or White hoodies and jackets can be worn when necessary. Heavy winter coats should be removed upon entering the building.
Head Coverings: Students must remove all hats, head-wraps, bandanas, kerchiefs, and other head coverings upon entering the building unless it is worn in accordance with a cultural or religious observation.
Reminder: If a student comes to school without the required attire, a phone call will be made home requesting the correct attire item(s) be brought to the school immediately. If a parent is unable to bring the attire item(s), the student will be provided the uniform item(s) for the day. If dress code violation is a persistent issue, the parent will be requested to meet with the Director of School or designee to discuss a plan to address the issue.
