The Sacramento School of Engineering & Science has established a new robotic competition team, The Phenoms. This team will compete in the FIRST® Robotics international competition program.
In early January, at the beginning of each year, FIRST announces the tasks necessary for the robotics competition. The Phenoms team will then proceed to construct a robot capable of executing these tasks. The process of robot design and assembly requires expertise in various disciplines, including electronics, mechanics, and software development. Each team member enhances their skills and applies them throughout the construction process.
The competition involves entering the designated arena to perform tasks within a specified time frame, with operations commanded both by team members and autonomous programming, without human control during operation. Additionally, Judges pose evaluative questions to team members to assess each team’s understanding of construction decisions and problem-solving capabilities concerning the development of the robot.
